Instructor Information

How to become an instructor:

  1. Complete the Instructor candidate application and turn it in to We R CPR.
  2. Attend a provider class for skills screening.
  3. Take the AHA’s online instructor essentials course.
  4. Attend the instructor course at We R CPR. This is a two day class.
  5. Observe classes at We R CPR for practice.
  6. Teach your first class, which must be monitored by We R CPR faculty.

Once you have completed the above listed steps, you are all set up to teach.

In Order to maintain your instructor status:

  1. Teach a total of five classes within the two year period.
  2. Have a second monitor completed by We R CPR faculty at least one year before the status renewal date.
  3. After completing steps 1 and 2, you can take the one day instructor renewal class at We R CPR.

Once you have completed the above listed steps, you are all set up to teach.

Instructor Renewal Requirements

The following must be completed before attending the instructor renewal class.

  1. You must have taught four classes within the two-year period.
  2. All monitors must be completed and passed successfully and must be completed with We R CPR faculty present.

Instructor Training Options

American Heart Association (AHA) courses are available in a classroom setting and an eLearning format. Whatever your choice, you can be assured AHA courses reflect the most current and effective training methods available. Classroom Courses Classroom-based courses are ideal for those who prefer group interaction and feedback during class from an AHA instructor. (Note: All AHA’s written tests, whether they are required or optional, must be passed with an 84% or higher.)

Heartsaver First Aid

Content: First aid basics; first aid for medical, injury, and environmental emergencies

Requirements: Course lessons; skills practice (along with video) and skills testing (optional written test)

Course Completion Card: Course completion card valid for 2 years

Who Can Take This Course? Teachers, coaches, people sitting with elderly, construction and manufacturing workers, etc…

Heartsaver CPR/AED

Content: Adult CPR/AED (optional child CPR/AED and infant CPR modules)

Requirements: Course lessons; skills practice (along with video) and skills testing (optional written test)

Course Completion Card: Course completion card valid for 2 years

Who Can Take This Course? Teachers, coaches, daycare workers, construction and manufacturing workers, etc…

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid

Content: First aid basics, first aid for medical, injury, and environmental emergencies (related to children)

Requirements: Course lessons; skills practice (along with video) and skills testing (optional written test)

Course Completion Card: Course completion card valid for 2 years

Who Can Take This Course? Daycare workers, elementary teachers, babysitters, church nursery workers, etc….

BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers

Content: Adult CPR, Child CPR, Infant CPR, AED, Bag-mask, and 2- rescuer CPR

Requirements: Course lessons; skills practice (along with video) and skills testing; written test (must pass with 84% or higher)

Course Completion Card: Course completion card valid for 2 years

Who Can Take This Course? Anyone in the Healthcare field such as: nursing students, RN, LPN, CNA, doctors, pharmacists, therapists, dental hygienists, etc…
